Problem Identification
CRM systems help organizations decrease unproductive associations with customers thereby maximizing sales and revenue. To ensure implementation of a successful CRM, it is vital for organizations to understand the problems that the CRM system will address and the improvements that it will bring in the business processes of the organization. Post problem identification, organizations can choose the CRM system that best fits their requirements.
Making Strategic Decisions
Involving a marketing and sales manager who has a good understanding of the business of the organization will bring in domain expertise into the implementation. Top management support as well as empowered team members also plays a significant role in ensuring the success of the CRM system. The staff of the organization are key assets and have a wealth of information that need to be pulled into the system.
Establishing and communicating the vision for implementation of the CRM system along with the purpose and the objectives to the employees will help in achieving the business goals. Also, aligning business processes will help to standardize them and result in proper integration of data.
Implementation of the system
Companies need to establish an implementation plan that includes measurable goals, resource assignments, task dependencies, milestones and deliverables. Organizations should have a thorough understanding of the new CRM system and the changes that it will bring about post the implementation. If required, necessary customizations should be made so that the new system meets the specific goals and objectives of the organization. Also, instead of implementing the entire system in one go, it is advisable for organizations to adopt a phased approach. Organizations need to work towards long-term enterprise-wide implementation through a series of small, phased implementations. Effective management of change is also necessary to ensure users accept the changes that the new system will bring about. Periodic inputs and feedback from users will help in identification of gaps and pain points and will also ensure user satisfaction.
Data Migration
It is essential for organizations to develop effective migration strategies to ensure smooth transfer of information. Organizations need to identify the right data to be migrated and improve the accuracy of data prior to migration to the CRM system. A good understanding of the migration tools and services that will be used for the migration will help in effective usage of the same.
Training and Support
Proper training and support to users of the CRM system will ensure success of the same. Users will require multiple exposures to technical documentation as well and hands on experience to get well versed with the new system.
